Before you write

How do I book?

Two ways. Book directly on Hostelworld, where the live availability lives, or fill in the inquiry on this page: it writes a tidy message with your dates and sends you to Daniel on Instagram (or Hostelworld) to send it. Nothing is booked until Daniel or Hostelworld confirms.

Does this website show live availability or prices?

No, on purpose. This is a small house and Daniel answers himself. For live prices and availability, check Hostelworld.

How do I pay?

The house rules say payment on arrival, in cash. If you book through Hostelworld, they charge a small deposit online. Minca has historically had no ATM, so bring pesos from Santa Marta.

What are check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 14:00 to 19:00 and check-out is until 13:00. Coming later than 19:00? Message Daniel before you travel; late arrival is not guaranteed.

What is the cancellation policy?

The house rules say 24 hours before arrival. Bookings made on Hostelworld follow Hostelworld’s own terms, which they show when you book.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi is not on the listing, and guests in 2024 said there was none. Cafés in the village have it, and a Colombian SIM with data works around town. Ask Daniel for the current situation.

Is there hot water?

Guests in 2024 reported cold-water showers; the water comes from the mountain. Think of it as part of the experience.

Guests mention it — ask Daniel
Are towels included?

No. Towels are available to hire for a fee, or bring your own (a quick-dry one also works at the river).

Can I cook?

Yes. The shared kitchen has a stove, fridge and freezer, kettle, pots, pans and utensils.

How private is the dorm?

It is a four-bed mixed dorm with its own bathroom. It closes with a curtain, and the walls do not reach the roof, so you will hear the house. Private rooms are booked whole; ask Daniel whether they close with a door or a curtain.

Guests mention it — ask Daniel
How far is it from the centre and the river?

About 0.4 km from the centre, roughly five minutes on foot from where the colectivos stop, on a mostly flat lane. Guests say the river is about two minutes away.

Does Daniel sell tours?

No tours are sold here. Daniel is happy to share local tips and point you in the right direction; book any guided activity directly with local operators.

Is there a curfew? Can I store luggage?

No curfew, according to the house rules. Luggage storage is free.
