Hikes from town

Lace up at the door. The mountain starts there.

From gentle strolls to the long Paso del Mango hike, Minca’s trails start in town. Download an offline map, start early, carry water.

≈ 2–9 hours, round trip

One of the best things about Minca is that you do not need a car, a tour or a plan to go walking. You step out of the house and the trails are right there. The classic uphill route links Oído del Mundo, Cascadas de Marinka and finally Los Pinos — three good reasons to keep climbing, one after another.

For a serious day out, Paso del Mango is a signposted hike of around six hours from Minca, with river swims near the end to reward tired legs. That information is a few years old, so check locally. And if you just want to stretch, gentle walks around town and down to the river are always on.

Download maps.me or another offline map before you go — signal is patchy and junctions can be confusing. Start early, while it is cool and before afternoon clouds roll in. Carry more water than you think, tell someone your route, and remember that "just one more viewpoint" is how most long days begin.

Pack

  • Offline map downloaded (maps.me or similar)

  • Snacks
  • Rain jacket
  • Sunscreen, hat and insect repellent
  • Cash for entry charges and drinks along the way

Stay safe

  • Start early and plan to be back before dark
  • Tell someone at the house your route
  • Afternoon rain makes paths slippery and rivers higher
