Pozo Azul is the swimming hole everybody in Minca knows about, and with good reason. The river slides over two small waterfalls into pools of clear, cool water, framed by boulders that are perfect for drying off and doing absolutely nothing. It is less a destination than an excuse to spend half a day in a river.
It is an easy walk of around 45 minutes from town. Follow the signs: from the church, walk to the junction and turn right, then keep going until you hear water. No special gear, no early alarm required, although a slightly earlier start does buy you a quieter pool.
Weekends bring families and groups, and the place gets loud and happy. You will see people jumping from the second fall. If you are tempted, check the depth first, every single time, and look at where you will land. Rocks are slippery, and after rain the river can rise and change character fast.
