The name means "the ear of the world", and it suits the place: you arrive, the noise of the water swallows every other sound, and suddenly your phone feels very far away. Oído del Mundo is a waterfall and river spot where the path eventually stops pretending and simply goes through the river.
From Minca it is roughly a 45-minute hike. Expect wet feet and a few spots where you pick your way across stones. Then come the big rocks, sun-warmed and enormous, built for lying down. It is smaller and more intimate than Marinka, and a lovely place to sit still for a while.
Last time we checked, there was an entry charge, so carry cash; fees change. If you still have energy, the trail continues towards Marinka and on up to Los Pinos, which makes Oído a good first chapter of a longer day rather than a full stop.
